Rolling Stones Reclaim German Album Top spot for Twelfth Time, Setting Chart Records

The Rolling Stones have claimed the top position of the official German album charts, according to data released by GfK on Friday. With the album “Foreign Tongues,” the British music legends now have a twelfth number-one placement. Their success also sees them setting several new records: They achieved the most successful debut for an international band in over eighteen months, and they hold the record for the largest gap between two number-one albums in German chart history-as “The Rolling Stones No. 2” first reached the summit in 1965. Furthermore, they are the band with the highest frequency of Top 10 placements (218 entries) and the international act with the most chart albums overall (86), though James Last remains closest to this total.

The album rankings also saw several changes in the Top 20. The second spot is taken by a 20-year-old re-recorded version of Bring Me The Horizon’s CD, “Count Your Blessings.” Other entries include rapper Schillah’s “Jasmin” at number three, and the soundtrack to the series “Heated Rivalry” by Peter Peters at number five. Deep within the Top 20, Rockstar Jack White’s “Frozen Charlotte” is at number eleven, followed by the punk group Ronny Platte’s “Dagegen” EP at number eighteen, and Trap artist Future’s “The Real Me” at number 20.

In the singles charts, Shakira and Burna Boy maintained their position at the top with the official FIFA World Cup song “Dai Dai,” marking their third consecutive number-one hit. The podium is rounded out by Summer Cem & Billa Joe with “Killy Manjaro,” and Kitschkrieg, Blumengarten & Shirin David with “Gut genug.” “Goldrichtig” by Pashanim debuted as the highest newcomer, landing at number ten. Additionally, the posthumous debut of Bonnie Tyler with her global hit “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” placed her at number eighteen.

These official German charts are determined by GfK Entertainment on behalf of the German Music Industry Association and cover 90 percent of all music sales.
