Porsche anticipates achieving total savings of approximately €5.7 billion through its recently approved “Future Package,” according to an internal calculation reported by the “Handelsblatt”. The company plans to reach this financial target by combining workforce reductions, increased productivity, and various other cost optimizations.
Workforce cuts alone are projected to contribute more than €3.6 billion in savings by 2035. The Stuttgart-based luxury manufacturer reached the comprehensive “Future Package” agreement with the works council and the IG Metall union, designed to secure the Zuffenhausen and Weissach locations until the end of 2035.
As part of this agreement, however, approximately 5,000 jobs are slated for socially responsible reduction, and employees must accept cuts to their compensation and working conditions. The plans dictate that roughly 4,000 positions at the main Zuffenhausen plant and another 1,000 at the Weissach development center will be eliminated, leading to a total reduction of about 9,000 jobs by the middle of the coming decade.
Despite the operational changes, the package already includes certain concessions for the workforce, notably a one-time payment scheduled for all Porsche employees in Germany in August. Porsche declined to comment on the figures.
