German Minister Pushes for Tougher Security Measures After Berlin CSD Attack

Following a meeting of the Internal Committee regarding the attack at CSD Berlin, Federal Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) insisted on tougher action. He stated on Tuesday that there is a clear and obvious need for political intervention. Dobrindt called for the regulations governing probation and juvenile justice to be significantly tightened. Furthermore, he proposed implementing a nationwide pre-emptive detention framework to remove high-risk individuals from circulation, and that the authority to order ankle restraints for dangerous people should be expanded.
