Australian midfielder Jackson Irvine has left FC St. Pauli and immediately joined Cerezo Osaka in Japan’s J. League. Hamburg stated on Wednesday that a silence agreement has been reached regarding the transfer terms for the former captain. Irvine arrived at FC St. Pauli in the summer of 2021 and quickly became a key fixture in the squad. He took on the role of captain and significantly contributed to the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga. Sporting director Andreas Bornemann commented that after his return from the World Cup, Irvine expressed a desire to move to Japan. Following intensive discussions, this request was granted. “We thank Jacko for his commitment over the past years and wish him and his family all the best for the future,” he added.
