According to Ukrainian sources, at least 17 people were killed in the night leading up to Wednesday due to renewed Russian attacks on Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that 44 people have been injured in the city and surrounding region so far.
The President stated that the assault involved the use of 24 ballistic missiles, four “Zircon” or “Oniks” missiles, and 115 drones, a significant portion of which were equipped with jet engines. The main targets of the bombing raid reportedly included “storage halls of civilian enterprises,” in addition to infrastructure facilities and a railway station. Zelenskyy emphasized that these facilities had “nothing to do with the war,” specifying that the targets included a brewery, building material warehouses, and civilian logistics facilities.
Zelenskyy reiterated his concern over the lack of anti-missile defenses. He stated, “It is extremely important that our partners understand that delays in their delivery or the unwillingness to provide missile defense systems directly lead to such terrible casualties and destruction.” He suggested that partners who have not yet been ready to take a “more active role” in supplying interceptor missiles could help by imposing new sanctions. The President also pointed out that a substantial amount of Russian ballistic missile production remains unsanctioned, even at this point. “A significant portion of Russian ballistic missile production is still not subject to sanctions. Even now,” Zelenskyy noted.
