The Farmers’ Association anticipates that the ongoing drought will place a severe financial burden on farmers. According to Association President Joachim Rukwied, the impact of the drought is extreme. He expects significant yield losses across various areas, affecting not only cereal crops but also autumn harvests and fodder production.
The combination of below-average yields, low producer prices, and high operational costs-such as diesel-is predicted to put immense pressure on the liquidity of many farms. Rukwied noted that “not a few operations require special or interim financing simply to maintain their liquidity and ensure the business continues to operate.”
Consequently, the association president urged politicians to make absolutely no cuts to the agricultural sector during this “dramatic time.”
