The state government of Lower Saxony has set the date for the next state election (Landtagswahl) as September 26, 2027. The election will, as is customary, take place between 8 am and 6 pm. This date was decided by the cabinet and formalized through an ordinance of the Ministry of the Interior. According to the Lower Saxony Constitution, the re-election of the State Parliament must occur no earlier than 56 months and no later than 59 months after the start of the current legislative period. Since the 19th State Parliament was constituted on November 8, 2022, the election date was required to fall between July 9, 2027, and October 8, 2027.
