Ulrich Siegmund, the AfD’s top candidate in Saxony-Anhalt, declared that he will “certainly not” allow himself to be elected as Minister-President with only a simple majority if the BSW abstains in the third electoral round.
In his commentary, Siegmund suggested that certain media outlets are actively trying to block an absolute majority for the AfD. Speaking to the news channel “Welt” on Tuesday, he stated: “It is not a secret to me that certain parts of the media landscape are deliberately emphasizing the BSW here, focusing on it particularly often in their reporting, because they know that this would prevent an absolute majority from being achieved with us.”
He strongly urged BSW voters, warning that prolonged indecision would lead to the kind of outcomes experienced in both Brandenburg and Thuringia. Siegmund questioned how he could possibly manage the state’s problems if he were governing alongside these people or politicians.
Siegmund established his goal as achieving a majority of “45 percent plus X.” He asserted that this is “the only way to save this country.” Furthermore, he argued that serving as a formal Minister-President without a majority in parliament would be useless. He stressed the need for a stable team capable of governing over a five-year period, claiming that both Germany and their political opposition are simply waiting for them to fail during that time if they do not achieve enough support.
