CDU’s Frederik Bouffier Named Union Parliamentary Group Leader Amid Internal Political Shakeup

According to a media report, Member of the Bundestag Frederik Bouffier (CDU) is poised to take on the role of Parliamentary Secretary for the CDU/CSU faction. The 35-year-old MP, representing the Gießen constituency in Hesse, is expected to succeed Catarina dos Santos-Wintz, who is reportedly slated to become the first Parliamentary Secretary. This information was reported by the magazine Politico.

In an internal message, CDU faction leader Thorsten Frei stated that Bouffier possesses deep experience across various political levels, giving him a broad professional network. Frei highlighted Bouffier’s established reputation within the Bundestag concerning domestic policy matters. Furthermore, the faction leader remarked that Bouffier is distinguished by his proactive, solution-oriented approach and strong team spirit.

Bouffier is the son of former Hessian Minister-President Volker Bouffier.
