Hessen Bans “Palästina e.V.” After Alleged Antisemitic Propaganda and Extremism

The Hessian Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday that it has banned the association “Palästina e.V.” The Ministry characterized the organization as extremist because its activities were deemed contrary to constitutional order and the principles of international understanding.

This decision was preceded by an administrative court procedure which also included searches conducted at several locations across Hessian and Baden-Württemberg states. The Administrative Court in Kassel affirmed the Interior Ministry’s assessment, finding sufficient evidence to warrant the ban.

Interior Minister Roman Poseck (CDU) stated that by issuing the ban, Hesse is sending a “clear sign” against antisemitism. He explained that the association had crossed the boundaries of permissible political discourse through its antisemitic propaganda, thereby intensifying social tensions. He emphasized that protecting Jewish life is of the highest priority, assuring that Hessian security authorities will continue to act decisively against any antisemitic or extremist endeavors.

The association ban is the result of extensive investigations. According to the findings, Palästina e.V. allegedly spread antisemitic viewpoints and questioned Israel’s right to exist over a long period. Despite an alleged voluntary dissolution in November 2024, the organization reportedly continued its activities thereafter. The ban requires the dissolution of the association’s internal structures and the confiscation of its assets.
