Fuel Prices Jump Sharply in Germany Despite Historical Lows and Rising Crude Oil

Fuel prices in Germany have seen a significant increase over the past week. According to current figures released by the ADAC, the national average for Super E10 stood at approximately 2.162 Euros per liter, marking a rise of 3.7 cents compared to the previous week. Diesel also rose sharply, reaching an average of 2.253 Euros per liter-a gain of 5.3 cents.

The ADAC noted that fuel costs remain at what they deem to be a “too high level.” While the increase in crude oil prices (with Brent oil hovering around 91 US dollars per barrel) and the historically low water levels on the Rhine contributed to the elevated prices, the organization stated that these factors alone are not enough to fully account for the current pricing situation.
