Ford, the US automaker, is planning to develop its next vehicle in its European product push in collaboration with a partner, utilizing the other manufacturer’s existing platform. According to reports from business circles referenced in the “Handelsblatt”, the American conglomerate is currently in the process of finding a suitable cooperation partner for this model. Ford is negotiating with several companies and remains open to partnering with either a European or Asian firm; however, negotiations have not yet concluded.
This strategy reflects Ford’s broader approach in Europe, which relies heavily on leveraging the platforms of other manufacturers. The company aims to launch five new passenger car models in Europe by the end of 2029. In previous months, Ford had already announced two new models built on the electric platform of the French automaker Renault, and subsequently introduced another vehicle using the platform of Chinese conglomerate Geely. Notably, the European version of the Bronco remains the sole vehicle in this product offensive constructed on a dedicated Ford platform.
