US Investors Fuel Massive Surge in Acquisitions of German Industrial Giants

US investors are making aggressive moves into German industry, a trend not seen in years. According to an analysis conducted by the financial data provider Pitchbook for the “Handelsblatt”, there have been 76 acquisitions and investments in German industrial and manufacturing companies involving US participation in 2025-the highest number recorded since the beginning of the analysis in 2022.

By volume, these transactions have totaled approximately $29.5 billion in 2025, nearly double the amount seen in 2022. As of August 19th of this year, the invested amount had already reached $23.9 billion. A recent high-profile example included the acquisition of the fan manufacturer EBM-Papst by US buyer Madison Air for $5.4 billion.

Jacob Funk Kirkegaard, an economist at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), suggests that accessible capital on US stock markets is one driving factor. Furthermore, the expert points to the industrial policy of US President Trump. He believes that the new political emphasis on boosting manufacturing capacity within the United States is playing a noticeable role in fueling current investor demand for German manufacturers.
