The death and missing person counts continue to rise following the deadly floodfall in the border region between Nepal and China. On Monday, the Nepalese disaster management authority reported that the number of confirmed fatalities has now reached 903, up from the previous total of 788. In China, the casualty count stood at 16 as of Sunday.
The number of missing individuals in Nepal climbed to 4,247, including 592 foreign nationals. This represents a significant increase compared to Sunday, when just over 2,500 people were reported missing. Meanwhile, China reported 546 missing people on Sunday.
In total, 919 individuals have died on both sides of the border, and 4,793 people are currently unaccounted for. To date, rescue teams in Nepal have managed to bring over 10,000 people to safety.
