The German Bundestag is currently seeking a catering service provider for a reception following the Federal President’s election on January 30th. According to a report citing an official tender, the event is described as a major protocolary occasion that will be attended by numerous high-ranking individuals.
The reception is expected to host around 3,000 guests and requires the service provider to handle a substantial amount of beverages, including over 1,000 bottles of wine, 900 bottles of sparkling wine (Sekt), and 50 barrels of beer.
The specifications for the catering are detailed, calling for a minimum of three canapés per person, two soup options, and a wide variety of quality dishes including meat, fish, vegetarian, and vegan options, all sourced from organic producers. Desired main courses include calf ragout, roasted beef served with potato gratin, and premium seasonal fish paired with a vegetable accompaniment. Furthermore, the successful provider must furnish all necessary staff, tableware, and complete kitchen equipment.
The reception will be hosted by Bundestag President Julia Klöckner (CDU) at the Paul-Löbe-Haus. Politically, the Bavarian State Parliament President Ilse Aigner (CSU) and Hesse’s Minister-President Boris Rhein (CDU) are currently considered potential candidates for the office. The final decision on who will be toasted will be made after the state elections in September. The selection process for the caterer is ideally expected to conclude by the end of October.
