Preliminary results from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) show that in June 2026, the services sector in Germany (excluding finance and insurance) generated less revenue than in May 2026 across both real and nominal terms. Adjusted for seasonal and calendar variations, revenue dropped by 1.7 percent in real terms (price-adjusted), while it decreased by 1.4 percent in nominal terms.
Compared to June 2025 of the previous year, the revenue saw a real decline of 0.4 percent, though it rose by 2.7 percent nominally.
Among the sectors reporting the largest real decline compared to the previous month, professional, scientific, and technical services saw the steepest drop at 2.3 percent. This was followed by the real estate and housing sector, which declined by 1.8 percent.
Sectors such as transportation and warehousing, as well as other economic services (including the rental of movable goods and labor placement), all recorded a decline of 1.6 percent compared to May. Furthermore, the information and communication sector reported a 1.3 percent drop in revenue month-over-month, according to the Federal Office.
