According to her comments to Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, she believes it is difficult when this type of love connection is idealized, noting that the genre often draws criticism for romanticizing or downplaying toxic and violent relationships. She insists that any story must be viewed within the context of the narrative, and the way the relationship is presented and framed matters significantly.
Tezel, best known for portraying the “Tatort” detective Nora Dalay from 2012 to 2020, is currently leading a dark romance drama titled “Serial Cleaner”. In this role, she portrays Teri, a mother whose daughter is immunocompromised and becomes a witness in a murder. To afford the life-saving therapy for her child, Teri begins working as a crime scene cleaner for her client, Vincent, and develops feelings for him. Tezel clarified that for her version of the story, the relationship between Teri and Vincent is not presented as a romantic ideal.
Since leaving the “Tatort” series voluntarily in 2020, Tezel has broadened her professional scope, exploring various roles and even debuting as a screenwriter and director. She stated to the RND that she does not regret her departure from the “Tatort”, calling it the right time because “other things were simply waiting for me.” Tezel also reflected on the impact of her time with the series, mentioning the increase in visibility that came with her involvement, noting that the opportunity to connect with so many people through her work is something truly special.
