Saxonian Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer of the CDU is calling for his party to adopt a stronger stance against the rising costs of living. Speaking to ‘Spiegel,’ the CDU politician stated, “We must now wholeheartedly address the concerns that are truly troubling people.” He pointed out that the cost of living-including fuel, food, and rent-is constantly increasing, leading residents to feel that nothing is changing. Kretschmer stressed that merely managing communication is insufficient. To regain the trust of voters, he believes the political focus must be on “everyday politics.” He added that if Germany can be revitalized and if there is a noticeable improvement within the next twelve months, they can win back public confidence. Kretschmer further insisted that the government needs to create greater financial room within the budget by promoting economic growth. “For that to happen, we need more freedom and less regulation,” he concluded.
