U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed Chinese leader Xi Jinping during his two-day state visit to the White House. Trump noted that the two leaders have made “enormous progress” in addressing the challenges faced by both countries. He recalled that during a previous visit in May, they had established a trade chamber.
The President added that efforts are actively underway to foster more balanced trade relations, which includes creating new market access for American farmers. During the current state visit, the US President confirmed they will be discussing urgent matters related to security, technology, and superintelligence.
Meanwhile, Xi stressed the importance of sincere cooperation, stating that the interests of China and the US are closely intertwined, offering significant potential for collaboration. He welcomed American companies looking to do business in China while also expressing hope that Chinese companies are treated fairly within the United States.
Focusing on technology, Xi pointed out that both China and the US are leading nations in Artificial Intelligence. He asserted that both countries possess the ability and the responsibility to develop and manage AI for the welfare of humanity, ensuring that its advancement remains under human control and serves people’s best interests.
Finally, the Chinese leader insisted that both nations must commit to the principle of avoiding conflicts or confrontations. Xi further stated the need for regular dialogue among the militaries of both countries to enhance mechanisms for crisis communication and prevention.
