Just minutes earlier, the broader S&P 500 was down 0.2 percent at approximately 7,670 points, while the technology-focused Nasdaq 100 calculated around 30,340 points, showing a positive increase of 0.2 percent.
The European common currency weakened by Tuesday evening. The euro traded at 1.1336 US dollars, meaning the dollar was worth 0.8821 euros.
Gold prices saw significant gains, climbing 1.5 percent to $4,174 per fine ounce in the evening. This price equates to 118.37 euros per gram.
In contrast, the oil price fell sharply. A barrel of North Sea Brent crude cost $102.40 at around 10 p.m. Central European Time on Tuesday-a drop of 2,8 percent or 292 cents from the end of the prior trading session.
