The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Wednesday that an individual suspected of being an ISIS member has been arrested in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district of Hesse. The suspect is accused of operating as a member of the terrorist organization “Islamic State” (IS) abroad.
According to the arrest warrant, the individual allegedly joined IS in Iraq by January 2016 and remained an active fighter in various organizational units until the spring of 2017.
The accused is scheduled to be presented to the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice on Wednesday. During this proceeding, the court will formally open the arrest warrant and decide on the implementation of the pre-trial detention.
