According to a report, the Deutschlandticket is set to increase in price, potentially reaching 66.80 euros per month starting January 1st of next year. This information was published by the “Rheinische Post,” citing members of the “Deutschlandticket Coordinating Council,” a body comprising representatives from the federal government, various states, municipal peak associations, and the transport industry, which met on Wednesday. Currently, the ticket, which is valid across the country for regional and local transport, costs 63 euros. The basis for this price increase is the calculation according to the agreed-upon cost index, which accounts for personnel, energy, and operational costs. This mechanism was agreed upon by the transport ministers of both the federal government and the individual states. The ticket is currently utilized by approximately 14.5 million people.
