Hamas Leader’s Son Allegedly Planned Terror Attack on Israel in Germany or Austria

Allegations have emerged that the son of a senior member of the Islamist terror group Hamas may have announced a planned attack in either Germany or Austria in an extremist propaganda video recovered by investigators, as reported by Spiegel. According to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, the attack was allegedly intended to target Israelis or Jews and was planned for last autumn, coinciding with the second anniversary of the Hamas assault on Israel on October 7, 2023.

In the video clip reviewed by Spiegel, a man wearing a hood announces that armed resistance will send a message “with blood” to Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. The masked individual threatens revenge for what he terms Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip. Two pistols are visible on a table in the recording.

The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office is treating the recording as a pre-recorded confession video related to a thwarted terrorist attack. Investigative details identify the masked speaker as Mohammed A., the son of a Hamas Politburo member. A was born in Germany and was last residing in the United Kingdom. The Politburo serves as the supreme leadership body of the terrorist organization. Investigators suggest the video was shot in Vienna during the summer of 2025.

In early September, the Federal Public Prosecutor filed charges against seven alleged accomplices of A before the Berlin District Court. The men are accused of procuring weapons and ammunition for the supposedly planned attack, as well as membership in a foreign terror organization and preparation of a serious crime endangering the state. A decision on the indictment now rests with the District Court. Mohammed A. is currently held in pre-trial detention in Britain and is expected to be extradited to Germany. His lawyer has not responded to an inquiry from Spiegel.
