Maffay and Oerding Lead German Album Charts, Amid Artist debuts and Beatles Revival

Peter Maffay has reached the pinnacle of the official German album charts this week with “Nashville,” securing his 22nd number-one album and marking his 315th official placement in the Top 10. Both Maffay and Johannes Oerding topped the charts, according to data released by GfK on Friday.

In the rest of the album rankings, Danger Dan’s album “Keine Angst” claimed the second spot, narrowly beating out The Beatles. The classic 1965 record “Rubber Soul” earned bronze by debuting in a fresh sound package, thanks to its new Stereo and Dolby Atmos reissue. Meanwhile, Amon Amarth (Metal) entered the Top 10 at number four with “The Allfather Awakens,” followed by the Hip-Hop duo Mehnersmoos at number five with “Saufen,” and rapper Ufo 361 at number six with “Waldemar Hof.” Reinhard Mey’s previous chart-topper, “Schatzhauser,” dropped to seventh place.

The single charts saw Taylor Swift once again take the number one position with “Patient Zero.” Shakira and Burna Boy claimed the second spot with “Dai Dai,” and the Israeli rock band Temper City rounded out the top podium at number three with “Self Aware.”

The definitive German charts are compiled by GfK Entertainment under the auspices of the Federal Music Industry Association, covering 90% of all recorded music sales.
