SPD Demands Investment Parity: Audi Must Balance US Expansion with German Factory Support

In the debate surrounding the appearance of Audi CEO Gernot Döllner at a Donald Trump campaign event, the SPD is demanding equal investment contributions. Esra Limbacher, the chairman of the conservative Seeheim district, stated to the “Rheinische Post” that any euro invested by Audi in the United States must be matched by an equal amount flowing back to Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm.

Limbacher added that achieving this investment parity would send a clear message to the workforce that has been constructing top-quality cars in Germany for years. She emphasized that the German factories “must not be allowed to fade away, but must be kept on a successful trajectory through investment.”

At the same time, the SPD’s deputy parliamentary group leader sharply criticized Döllner’s appearance. Limbacher called it a “farce” for the Audi CEO to involve himself in Trump’s campaign rally. She further criticized Trump, labeling him a “democratie incendiary and who extorts the rest of the world with his nationalist trade policies.”
