German industry leaders are advocating for businesses to be aware of employees who also serve as reserves within the Bundeswehr (German armed forces). Peter Adrian, President of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), stated that the current geopolitical landscape presents a significant challenge for society as a whole.
Adrian emphasized that companies are willing to support government efforts to bolster Germany’s defense capabilities. He suggested a proactive approach, including identifying employees who are reservists and who potentially could be mobilized.
Discussions have already taken place with the government regarding the necessary preparations and the management of reservist-related issues. The DIHK has expressed its readiness to coordinate efforts across its 79 member chambers throughout Germany to facilitate this process. The organization intends to assist companies in understanding and adapting to the evolving security environment.
