Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé has claimed the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, marking a career milestone for the French international. The ceremony, held Monday evening at the Théatre du Chatelet in Paris, saw Dembélé recognized for his outstanding performance throughout the previous season.
The winger spearheaded PSG’s successful campaign, contributing significantly to the club’s triumphs including a Champions League victory and a domestic double. He secured the top individual honor, surpassing fellow contenders such as Lamine Yamal of FC Barcelona and PSG teammate Vitinha. Dembélé’s outstanding statistics for the 2024/25 season reflect his impact, having scored 35 goals in 53 appearances and providing crucial assists, including two in the Champions League final against Inter Milan.
Luis Enrique, also of Paris Saint-Germain, received the award for best coach, triumphing over a strong field which included former German national team manager Hansi Flick. The women’s Ballon d’Or was awarded to Aitana Bonmatí from FC Barcelona, securing her third consecutive victory in the category.
The Ballon d’Or, an accolade presented annually since 1956 by French football magazine “France Football”, acknowledges the world’s top footballers based on their achievements in the preceding season.
