AfD Accuses SPD and Greens of Swastika Incident

Following the recent discovery of a swastika symbol within the Baden-Württemberg state parliament, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) parliamentary group has suggested the unknown perpetrator may be linked to the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Green Party.

AfD parliamentary group leader Anton Baron stated on Thursday afternoon that the ballot box in which the offending ballot was found appeared to have been used exclusively by members of the Green Party and the SPD. He asserted that this indicates at least one extremist may be present within those factions. Baron expressed strong concern regarding the alleged commission of politically motivated criminal acts by elected officials within the parliamentary building.

The incident occurred during the election for the Upper Rhine Council, a process in which AfD parliamentarian Bernhard Eisenhut was a candidate. Eisenhut has filed a criminal complaint against unknown parties, alleging violations including the use of unconstitutional symbols, defamation, coercion, slander and intimidation of elected representatives. The AfD has described the situation as serious and is seeking a thorough investigation.
