According to a media report, the AfD has put negotiations on buying a representative property for its Berlin headquarters on hold. Instead, it plans to rent new office space in the capital until the autumn, as reported by “Stern” and RTL/ntv. The favored rental is a complex near Jannowitzbrücke, which is considerably more centrally located than the party’s current headquarters in Berlin‑Reinickendorf. The party will have to vacate that location by the end of the year following disputes with the landlord.
Bundesschatzmeister Carsten Hütter told RTL/ntv and “Stern” that roughly 30 potential purchase options were examined in a thorough search, but none met the requirements set by the AfD national board. The report also noted that the AfD had previously negotiated the purchase of two properties near Anhalter Bahnhof and Spittelmarkt. Those talks were reportedly halted in February at the direction of the national board, due to concerns about security, lack of parking, and cost.
