A disciplinary investigation against Sascha Lensing, a police officer and Member of the German Bundestag for the AfD party, has been underway within the Duisburg Police Headquarters for over a year, according to reports from news portal T-Online. Lensing has confirmed the existence of the procedure but declined to comment on its specifics, stating he trusts in the rule of law.
The Administrative Court of Düsseldorf confirmed a disciplinary lawsuit against Lensing has been pending since May 2024, though neither the court nor the Duisburg Police Headquarters would provide further details.
Lensing served as a police officer in Duisburg until his election to the Bundestag in 2025 and has been active in local politics for the AfD for several years. He is currently designated as a retired Chief Inspector (“außer Dienst”), a designation permitted for parliamentarians whose employment status is suspended due to their mandate.
Disciplinary lawsuits, stemming from internal disciplinary proceedings, typically aim to enforce measures such as demotion or termination. Three months ago, Lensing publicly stated during a campaign event in Duisburg that efforts had been made to remove him from his position as a civil servant.
T-Online reports that the investigation may pertain to posts on social media. Alleged connections to Björn Höcke, the Thuringian AfD state speaker, whose regional association has been monitored as a confirmed right-wing extremist group by the State Office for Protection of the Constitution since 2021, may also be under scrutiny.
