An uproar took place outside the Berliner Volksbühne on Friday. As observed by a dts Nachrichtenagentur reporter, several individuals appeared bearing AfD posters and gathered directly in front of the theater. Initially, it was unclear whether this was an official campaign by the AfD. The protestors were eventually dispersed by passersby amidst considerable commotion, leading to heated verbal clashes and insults, including the phrase “Fickt euch.” A banner featuring those same words had reportedly been hung in front of the building since the morning.
This unrest followed the cancellation by the Volksbühne of an event scheduled for Friday. The original event had invited exclusively Black children and youth to splash in a temporary pool located outside the building. The theater stated that the children had become targets of right-wing and racist hate, which was cited as the reason for the cancellation.
