AI and Infrastructure Boom Set to Quadruple Memory Chip Market by 2026

The global market for memory chips is projected to experience explosive growth this year. According to the market research firm Counterpoint Research, the worldwide memory market is expected to reach a value of approximately $975 billion by 2026.

This significant expansion is primarily driven by escalating investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure, as confirmed by recent industry figures. The surge in demand is particularly strong for server memory products, including DRAM and NAND-Flash. Major technology corporations based in North America are massively boosting their spending on AI infrastructure, which acts as the principal catalyst for the industry’s growth.

These server-oriented products are rapidly changing the industry’s structure. Their share of the overall sector revenue is forecast to jump to 56% this year, a notable increase from 37% in 2025. This marks the first time that server memory solutions have accounted for over half of the industry’s total income.

This structural shift towards memory solutions tailored for servers has become a critical growth factor. Consequently, the high level of demand is generating increasing imbalances between supply and demand, which is pushing prices higher. Market researchers anticipate that this trend of rising prices will persist until the first half of 2027.
