A recent survey by the Bitkom, the German association for information technology, reveals a growing awareness and, to a degree, preparation for the impact of artificial intelligence within the German workforce. The findings, released Monday, indicate that approximately one-fifth (20 percent) of employed individuals in Germany have already received training from their employers regarding the use of AI technologies.
However, a significant gap remains. While an additional 6 percent have access to AI training programs, they have yet to participate. The majority – 70 percent – of the employed population reports not being offered any AI-related training through their workplaces.
The survey suggests a widespread expectation among German workers that AI will reshape the future of work. Notably, 14 percent believe that AI could completely replace them in their current roles, while a more substantial 33 percent anticipate AI could substitute their direct managers.
Bitkom Research conducted the study through a telephone survey of 1,005 individuals aged 16 and older in Germany, including 513 employed participants. Data collection took place between March 11th and March 15th, 2025.
