It has been a week of unexpected shifts in the German music scene, with the top five slots in the German album charts being entirely occupied by new entries, according to GfK, which reported the data on Friday.
One of the biggest news items is the rise of the Swabian rock band Kissin’ Dynamite. Despite bassist Hannes Braun announcing his plans to step down as a vocalist, the band is surging into the number one spot with their latest release. Following their success in 2024 with “Back With A Bang,” this marks the second time the group has reached the top of the charts. Making up the rest of the new arrivals in the top five are Aymen with “Goldjunge” (rank two), Matthias Reim with “Flashback” (rank three), Miley with “Bass Persuades” (rank four), and Anthrax with “Cursum Perficio” (rank five). Furthermore, new placements were noted further down the rankings, including Agnes Obel’s “The Meaning Of Flowers” at number nine and Nicole’s “Meine Schätze” at number ten.
In the single charts, Shakira and Burna Boy continue to dominate. Their track “Dai Dai” secured its thirteenth spot, staying ahead of the competition. Hugel, Imael Angel & Ultra Naté’s “Movin’ To The Sun” is currently at number two, followed by Summer Cem & Shirin David’s “Mo’ Money Mo’ Haters” at number three. Meanwhile, Adéla (“Ain’t In La,” rank 14) and Katseye (“Animal,” rank 20) are making successful debuts in the Top 20, rising ahead of other entrants such as Sido with “Woke” (rank 22) or Lacazette with “TTT” (rank 42).
These official German charts are determined by GfK Entertainment on behalf of the German Music Industry Association, covering approximately 90 percent of all music sales.
