Canadian author Anne Carson has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, according to an announcement made on Thursday in Stockholm.
Born in Toronto in 1950, Carson is recognized for her distinctive works that seamlessly blend poetry, essays, translations, and narrative elements. Among her most popular books is “Autobiography of Red”, a modern interpretation of the Greek myth concerning Geryon.
Prior to receiving this honor, Carson had already been recognized with numerous prestigious grants, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a MacArthur Fellowship, and a Lannan Literary Award. She has also worked as a professor at multiple universities and has focused on translating ancient Greek dramas for the stage.
