At the Athletics European Championships in Birmingham, Owen Ansah secured the gold medal for Germany in the over 200 meters event. He clearly outperformed his competitors, clocking a time of 19.95 seconds. Due to the strong tailwind, it is unlikely that a new German record will be registered. Zharnel Hughes, the Brit from Anguilla, finished in second place with a time of 20.16 seconds. Bronze was shared between Eseosa Fostine Desalu (Italy) and defending champion Timothe Mumenthaler (Switzerland), both reaching the finish line in exactly 20.251 seconds.
