Bayern’s 5-1 Thrashing of Hoffenheim Secures the Top Spot and Widens the Gap to Dortmund.

In the Sunday evening fixture of the 21st Bundesliga round, FC Bayern Munich triumphed over 1899 Hoffenheim with a 5-1 scoreline, easing the pressure at the summit of the table. The win widened Bayern’s gap to the rivals at Borussia Dortmund back to six points, while Hoffenheim stayed in third place.

Bayern took the lead early after Kevin Akpoguma was sent off for Hoffenheim in the 17th minute, reportedly because he blocked Luis Diaz as the last man inside the penalty area. Harry Kane converted the resulting penalty to make it 1-0.

Despite being a man down, Hoffenheim fought on and capitalised on a mistake by Manuel Neuer to level through Andrej Kramaric, making it 1-1. Just before half‑time Bayern earned a second penalty, again rewarded by Kane, and seconds later Diaz struck from a counter‑attack to put Bayern ahead 3-1, securing a decisive first half for the hosts.

In the second half Bayern largely controlled the game, limiting threats and extending their advantage. Luis Diaz added two more goals, turning the match into a 4-1 and eventually 5-1 final score. Hoffenheim, despite spirited attempts, failed to find the net again. The game highlighted Bayern’s potent attack, while Hoffenheim fought valiantly with a numerical disadvantage but ultimately remained unable to mount any further threat.
