Berlin Brandenburg Airport Strikes Leave All Passenger Flights Cancelled.

At Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) a strike called by the service‑trade union Verdi began on Wednesday morning. Because of the work stoppages, no regular passenger flights operate the entire day. The airport authority urged travellers to contact their airline or tour operator for re‑booking or alternative travel arrangements.

Verdi accuses the employers of blocking the ongoing wage negotiations. In the second round of talks the employers presented an offer that the wage commission rejected as non‑negotiable. The next meeting is scheduled for March 25.

During the second round the employers proposed a multi‑step salary increase for the period up to the end of 2028. They suggested a zero increase in June, a 1 % rise from July 2026, 1.5 % from July 2027, and an additional 1 % from May 2028. Negotiation leader Holger Rößler called the offer a provocation at the negotiating table.
