Authorities announced Saturday that the 22-year-old who was shot in Berlin-Kreuzberg on Friday evening is no longer in life-threatening danger. The young man was shot in front of a café on Graefestraße. Around 8:40 PM, police were alerted by the sound of gunfire. The shooter subsequently fled the scene without being identified. A first responder provided aid before the injured man was transferred to a hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. The state criminal police’s second murder commission has taken over the investigation, and the search for the unknown perpetrator is ongoing.
The area, Graefekiez, has recently seen repeated incidents of this nature. In March, for instance, two men fired shots at a 23-year-old and his companion on the Graefestraße sidewalk. The 23-year-old sustained severe injuries, and the assailants escaped. In May, the LKA took over related investigations after an unknown person shot a car while on a scooter in the same vicinity. Shortly thereafter, shots were fired near the Urbanstraße towards Hermannplatz, and another incident occurred in Reinickendorf outside a local establishment.
