The company announced Thursday that it now holds 756 percent of the shares
MFE initially invested in ProSieben in spring 2019, acquiring a near ten percent stake and has steadily increased its holdings since Pier Silvio Berlusconi, son of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, serves as MFE’s chief executive
The acquisition was facilitated by Czech financial investor PPF, which sold its shares to MFE following a competitive bidding process PPF had previously been the second-largest shareholder in ProSiebenSat1, holding approximately 16 percent of the company’s stock
With MFE now exceeding the 75 percent threshold, a domination and profit transfer agreement becomes possible, potentially giving the Italian group access to the broadcaster’s financial resources The remaining shares are held in free float, largely by institutional investors and private shareholders
