Border Force Gets Massive Funding Boost

The Federal Police are welcoming proposed budgetary measures outlined within the Interior Ministry’s plans.

Andreas Roßkopf, Chairman of the Police Union for the Federal Police, told the Mediengruppe Bayern that the planned increase in the Federal Police budget, from €4.19 billion in 2024 to over €4.9 billion for 2025, enables critical and necessary investments. He emphasized the urgent need to prioritize equipment for border controls.

Roßkopf specifically highlighted the requirement for updated material resources. “The Federal Police vehicle fleet needs considerable renewal and the acquisition of modern medium-range weaponry is essential” he stated. He added that the increased budget provides the necessary flexibility to develop the Federal Police further, shaping it into a modern and future-oriented force.

The union also expressed approval of the planned addition of 1,000 personnel. “These additional positions create opportunities to equip us with the necessary staff” Roßkopf explained, acknowledging the growing demands placed on the Federal Police as justification for increased staffing levels.
