In the Black Forest-Baar district of Baden-Württemberg, specifically between Bad Dürrheim and Geisingen, a steel beam from a bridge over the A81 collapsed on Wednesday. Police reported that the highway was closed near Bad Dürrheim in the direction of Singen and Stuttgart due to safety concerns. Authorities remain uncertain whether the remaining steel beams of the bridge are capable of supporting traffic. One person sustained serious injuries during the incident and was transported to a hospital.
Traffic has been rerouted at the Geisingen junction and the Bad Dürrheim motorway triangle. Despite the diversions that have been set up, significant traffic disruptions are still expected. Police are directing the backed-up traffic off the A81, moving it backward toward the A864 while providing assistance.
Initial efforts to clear the roadway for traffic heading toward Stuttgart are still ongoing. Furthermore, the road in the direction of Singen is anticipated to remain closed until late in the afternoon. Drivers using the area are advised to seek wide alternative routes.
