Preliminary estimates suggest that the BSW may enter the state parliament in Saxony-Anhalt following the recent election. In a 8:27 p.m. projection by Infratest for ARD, the BSW currently stands at 5.1 percent. Conversely, the ZDF data (from 7:54 p.m.) places the party at 4.8 percent.
The BSW’s potential presence holds a crucial role in determining whether Ulrich Siegmund, the AfD’s top candidate, will be elected Minister-President. If the BSW secures a seat, it would not be enough for the AfD to secure its own absolute majority. However, the BSW has indicated that it might abstain from the third round of voting in the state parliament, thereby facilitating Siegmund’s election.
Current projections indicate that the AfD has achieved 44.3 percent. Other major parties include the CDU at 18.2 percent, Die Linke at 9.1 percent, the SPD at 8.8 percent, and the Greens at 8.5 percent. The FDP, however, appears to be losing its seats, with only 2.4 percent projected, while all other parties collectively account for 3.9 percent.
