An eighth parliamentary election is slated for the spring, still within the five‑year window set by the constitution. In December, Prime Minister Rossen Scheljaskow’s government formally resigned but was instructed to continue its day‑to‑day operations temporarily. Since that resignation, several attempts to form a new government have failed.
