Cabinet Reopens Care Reform Debate After Coalition Dispute

Despite recent disagreements within the governing coalition regarding the planned care reform, the initiative remains on the agenda for Wednesday’s cabinet meeting as originally scheduled. According to the Federal Press Office, the cabinet will consider, among other items, the Ministry of Health’s “Draft Law for the Reorganization of Health Care Insurance.” This comes after concerns had arisen about whether the cabinet would actually tackle the reform, following announcements of resistance from the Social Democrats. For instance, SPD parliamentary group leader Matthias Miersch stated that they would not agree to a “mere cut package.”
