CDU Economic Council Demands Urgent Law to Protect Property Against Socialist Expropriation

The CDU Economic Council is urging the federal government to swiftly pass a law designed to counter potential nationalizations. Wolfgang Steiger, the General Secretary of the Economic Council, told the “Rheinische Post” (Tuesday edition) that “this law must be enacted immediately.” He added that even if left-wing ideas are destined to fail in Karlsruhe, the lengthy period of uncertainty beforehand would be “fatal for the entire country, both politically and socially.”

Steiger supported the fundamental principle of the proposal, stating that “Federal Minister Dobrindt is heading in precisely the right direction with this initiative. Property must not become a plaything in politics. Property is the foundation of our economic order.”

According to the plans of Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU), the socialization of rental apartments, for example, would only be possible if a definitive necessity could be proven. This proposal stands in contrast to the plans of the current coalition involving the Left Party, the Greens, and the SPD, which intend to nationalize large private housing stocks.
