A new poll suggests the Baden-Württemberg state election could be a lot closer than previously thought. According to the “Forschungsgruppe Wahlen” survey on the ZDF-Politbarometer, the CDU still leads with 27 percent, but the Greens are now only a hair behind at 25 percent.
The AfD falls in third place with 19 percent, a noticeable gap from the Greens. The day before, an Infratest poll had unexpectedly placed the Greens far ahead of earlier figures, adding to the uncertainty.
Additional results from the Politbarometer list the SPD at 9 percent, the FDP at 6 percent, the Left at 6 percent, and other parties at 8 percent. Nearly one‑third of Baden‑Württemberg voters are still undecided.
The state election will take place on 8 March.
