CDU Leader Schulze Rules Out Collaboration with AfD, Denies Party Defections

The current Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt, Sven Schulze of the CDU, announced that the CDU party faction intends to maintain a posture of “constructive opposition” within the state parliament. Speaking to the ARD-Hauptstadtstudio’s “Report from Berlin,” Schulze clarified that this position does not signify any form of cooperation with the AfD. He stressed that true collaboration, such as coordinating on legislation, is not part of their plan. Rather, the CDU will evaluate the topics debated in the Landtag strictly from their own party’s perspective.

Furthermore, Schulze reiterated his assurance that no CDU deputies will switch allegiance to the AfD. He stated unequivocally that all CDU members have repeatedly confirmed, both verbally and in writing, that they reject the current rumors suggesting a transfer. He affirmed that “no one from the CDU will switch to the AfD in any form.”
