According to the latest survey estimates regarding the state election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has slipped below the required five percent threshold. Both ARD and ZDF currently forecast the Christian Democrats to be at only 4.9 percent, meaning they would likely be excluded from the state parliament.
The current leading party is the AfD, which registers an average of 38.2 percent. Following them is the SPD at 35.5 percent. The Left party stands at 6.5 percent, while the Greens are polling at 5.6 percent. Meanwhile, the BSW faces uncertainty, polling at 4.9 percent and needing to worry about entering the parliament.
Politically, the results show that without the CDU and AfD, a majority in the parliament could be formed by the SPD joining forces with The Left and the Greens.
