Sepp Müller, Deputy of the CDU parliamentary group, has reaffirmed the CDU’s stance on eliminating the pension entitlement for those who meet 45 years of contribution. Speaking to RTL and ntv, Müller stated that they wish to ensure pension security, adhering strictly to previous agreements, which include the phasing out of the pension after 45 contribution years. This decision was reportedly reached collaboratively with the Social Democrats because they believe it ensures that subsequent generations will also have access to retirement benefits.
While acknowledging the concerns raised by the SPD, which Müller called understandable, the CDU politician clarified their targeted approach. He noted that efforts will focus specifically on individuals engaged in strenuous physical labor, such as roofers, but not on an engineer who could qualify for early retirement at age 58 under the block model. Müller confirmed that they plan to implement a special hardship clause for those performing the hardest, most difficult jobs, as previously agreed. Otherwise, he concluded, the pension will cease to be available after 45 years of contributions.
